Ahrefs shared 15 prompts to get started with their MCP.

I'll be testing the first 5 simple usecases shared to understand how useful it is.

1. Identify sites growing organic search traffic in 2025

Would you like me to analyze any specific site in more detail or investigate what might be causing these declines?

I was surprised to know that financesonline.com which is was once doing 2.2M traffic visits per month at its peak is doing just ~10 visits per month.

I cross-checked the site on google SERP using site:financesonline.com param and could find only 10 pages results on SERP.

I was curious if they have blocked google from indexing but that's not the case as per their robots.txt and sitemap files. Something to investigate on!

Capterra does have some pages but doesnt rank but also doesnt have other pages.

Furthermore, claude's verification is not 100% accurate. For example, capterra does have pages on calendar apps, pdf editor!

The prompt is a starting point and gives a picture on broader themes on what a competitor is ranking for.

We need to do a thorough analysis to understand which of the similar pages are available or not available on our website. Furthermore, study why the pages that we have are not ranking.

In addition to Ahrefs MCP, you could connect your site's data to claude and know if you have pages created or not.

Ahref's MCP can compare 2 pages and tell what keywords the pages are ranking for, the type of domains linking out etc.

You can also use Claude's webfetch to do thorough page to page comparison. But yes, it's advanced usecase!

3. Find the most linked-to content on any site or subfolder

If if you outsource it, it's hard to verify the analysis. With MCP, the analysis becomes scalable, repeatable, actionable, accurate and fast!

If you just want to find the top competitors just for exploration, just use the UI. Its faster!
But, if you need a thorough analysis of the competitors understanding the domains further such as aggregator, media site, manufacturer etc use MCP.
Make sure you're inputting the logic clearly filters such as geography, time period etc. Else, claude will go with its own assumptions

5. Combine keyword research with blog post headline ideas
